@not_kieran_f - idk how to reconcile synchonic turns. MUD/MUCK/MOOs have the system 'tick' turns every second or so. Lag was a bit of an issue, but the speeds involved for text-only datastream were never an issue for me, even on a 56k modem connection. · 4 months ago
I’ve always wondered what the best way to reconcile turn-based movement with multiple players would be… If you only have a few players then you could wait for everyone’s input, but that really doesn’t scale. Maybe you could have a universal turn timer, but then you have to deal with latency issues… · 4 months ago
And I still die from slipping, falling, and breaking my neck as I attempt to mount my horse on Dvl 1. I guess the difference then is that, instead dying in obscurity, there will be a whole audience there to watch the tragic and quite brief tale of brave sir skaffi.
