anyone else here have a love of cyphers? They just seem interesting to me, kind of a use with friends to keep secrets kind of thing, they of-course have their technological uses at least I think, but don't know. I love cryptography

Cyphers to me are fairly simple substitutions that swap one glyph set for another, normally to give the illusion of a foreign language.

It feels markedly different from using it for encryption (even in toy paper-and-pencil systems) but clearly related. The boundaries of this field of study and hobby is not well-defined. · 4 years ago
