Two nights in a row! Decided to hit the Vulpecula targets.
8:42PM
- Target: NGC 6800
- Const: Vulpecula
- RaDec: 19h27m +25.05
- Type: Open Cluster
- Scope: AT102ED
- Setting: 55x
- Class: I 1 m
Easily found just south of β Cygni. Had to stop for a moment to observe Albireo, as it is always a delight.
The center of the cluster seemed to have an obvious circular pattern that gave it a distinct look. Most of the stars look to be similar in magnitude.
8:54PM
- Target: NGC 6793
- Const: Vulpecula
- RaDec: 19h23m +22.09
- Type: Open Cluster
- Scope: AT102ED
- Setting: 55x
- Class: I 1 m
Found north of the western tip of Cr 399 (The Coat-hanger asterism). If the western tip of Cr 399 was hinged and you lifted the eastern tip to the north, it would almost touch NGC 6793.
This was one of the first NGCs that I’ve run into that was not listed in my Sky & Telescope’s Pocket Sky Atlas. But thankfully it was not difficult to find.
