Well it looks like summer is already over. Or maye I'm just being cynical. The weather has been all over the shop this year.
I haven't been up to much this year. Mostly working. I have biked to work a bunch, but not as much as I hoped. Between the smoke and wet-bulb temperature, and the wild thunderstorms, I've had to chicken out fairly often. I had a go at truing a bike wheel this weekend. It's fiddly but doable. Probably easier with the right tool!
I managed to acquire a couple more bikes recently. One is a pile of parts that were destined for recycling. I'll be making that one into a winter beater bike. The other is a 1971 Raleigh folding bike with a really nice green paint job. That one I just wanted to save from the scrap heap. It needs a couple of new cables and new tyres, but I'm putting that one at the bottom of the list so far. I also fixed up one of the bikes I got last year for my boy. It's a simple step through single speed with coaster brake. I'm hoping that it encourages him to ride more.
It sounds like all I go is bike stuff but I swear that I go more than that!
My front garden is starting to come to life. I stopped weeding last year to encourage native grasses to get a foothold, and it's starting to pay off! There are a couple of clumps of goldenrod that the bees and other bugs are going nuts over. The milkweed I planted a couple of years ago are mostly coming along nicely, too. No monarchs yet but there are a different kind of catepillar on them at the moment. And the aphids mostly stayed away until recently.
I suppose that's enough for now.
