The Backroad to Civilization

August 7th, 2025:

I logged in to COM here on SDF yesterday, for the first time in

many years. Only posted a few lines of text, mostly in response to

greetings, and my lack of recent experience showed. I'd forgotten all the

COM commands and struggled for the first few lines. Once I remembered to

"press Space to talk" and to hit the - key to fix my backspace, I was able

to function.

Practice makes perfect, so I've resolved to pop in to COM a lot more

often to chat with fellow SDFers. I'm trying to be a bit more sociable

these days, outside of social media.

Speaking of SDF, I'm debating whether or not to restore The Backroad to

Civilization's previous content. I'd deleted it a few years ago after a

period of intense philosophical bullshittery, wherein I decided everything

should have a finite lifespan... I'd made a backup of the old site before

deleting everything, so it shouldn't take much to restore. Not certain I

want to go through all the effort, however...

If I *did* restore the old stuff, I'd want to add it to the Gemini version

of the site, too, which wouldn't take long.

Fuck it, I'm going to restore it this weekend. Why the Hell not?
