ATA 56 - WINDOWS
- These windows are mounted in a frame and can be removed and installed from the exterior.
- Windshields are installed with non-magnetic bolts that don’t affect standby compass.
- Windshields have de-ice capability while sliding windows and fixed windows have only de-mist capability
- The cabin windows are installed and removed from the inside of the aircraft.
- Each windshield assembly is made of a number of layers of toughened glass.
There are two types of fixed side windows. One made of number of layers of stretched acrylic laminate known as acrylic windows and other one made of layers of toughened glass.
- Cabin dummy windows are made of aluminum installed in place of the cabin windows when necessary.
- The forward passenger/crew door windows inner pane is made with a 40 degree prism.
The prism gives the cabin crew direct downward vision to the outside of the aircraft when the door is closed.
- An almost invisible electrical conductor film which heats the windshield panels when an electrical current flows through it. This film is installed on the inner surface of the outer sheet of glass.
The temperature is controlled by two probes.
