How do I use Slackware
At home I use it for typical things:
BOINC
I run BOINC on a Thinkpad W541. These are the projects I projects I run:
- World Community Grid
- Rosetta@home
I have BOINC setup to only execute one Task at a time. This avoids overheating the CPU.
Development:
I use Slackware to develop and test my own utilities and to test objects I have developed at work for use on AIX. This ensures objects I create for work will also compile and work on Slackware.
My Main Utilities:
- Emacs
- Xgammon
- Xmahjongg
- amfora and bombadillo for gemini
- lynx, for some pages and gopher
- mplayer, play music streams from SOMA and Echos of Blue Mars.
- nethack, locally and via: "ssh nethack@hardfought.org" and "ssh nethack@alt.org".
- rogue
- tcsh
- tmux
- urxvt256c, the terminal I use
- vim and gvim
- vtwm, the Window manager I use
- xclock
- xconsole, I have cron jobs echoing info to it.
