Amiga Belfast November 2025

03 November 2025

The second meeting of Amiga Belfast took place on Saturday, once again in the MayWe centre in Royal Avenue in Belfast city centre.

And once again we had a steady stream of visitors throughout the day and to my table. I had planned on having two machines on the go, but with a busy week leading up to the event I hadn't had time to test, well, anything, and one of my screens misbehaved on the day so I ended up with a "cosy" single machine stand. My A1200 wasn't entirely happy either to start with but a change of PSU seemed to settle it down. Old computers, eh?

I had the latest Lumo WIP available to play, which did attract a lot of attention despite being very very buggy (again, no testing) with only a handful of the 300 rooms actually being reachable. I may have sold a couple of copies of Lumo 2 as well. I rotated through Rogue Declan and Santatron too, and got some very positive feedback on Declan from a non-Amiga person who plays a lot of PC Roguelikes. Which was nice.

The usual range of machines were available to poke around on. There was a cool Denise build in an ITX case, with an impressive custom-built Gotek featuring on-screen controls. Someone had a very nice Retrotink4K Pro and OLED monitor setup that looked fantastic, but it should given it probably cost over £1500 to put together! New games like Mega MILV, Outrun Amiga Edition and the new PPC port of Wipeout Fantômas Edition could be played too, along with the classics. All had regular visitors.

Another table had a basic A600 that helped image some floppies that hadn't seen the light of day since the 90s and held the owner's unreleased demo/intro/cracktros and source code. The effects were cool so I hope these get properly archived in the end. I think taking my Greaseweazel along to future meetups might be a good idea.

Top chat of the was with former Codemasters (and others) pixel artist Jonathan Temples. He worked on a good number of 8 and 16 bit games and continues to do great pixel work today. As it turns out, he currently lives around the corner from me and we may well have lived on the same street for years without realising it! Maybe we can get a coffee soon and talk about projects...

Maybe it won't be a year until the next Amiga Belfast either.
