Transit Log
This is a log of trips taken or just things I've noticed.
Nov 5 2025 🚌 This morning I woke up and saw the MBTA Pride in Transit rainbow bus out my window. What a lovely way to start the day.
Oct 12 2025 🚌 I just had a major long weekend in New York and experienced tons of transit. I really like the variety of buses they use in New York compared to Boston. In particular I'm starting to become a massive fan of the Nova Bus LFS HEVs, which is really unfortunate because these buses were the last one out of Nova Bus' factory upstate before it became relegated to making miniature school buses earlier this year. I love the latest Nova Bus LFS HEV buses because they feel really smooth, they don't rattle as much as the Xcelsiors, aren't as loud, have large front doors, and look really cute (they have big eyes IMO).
Oct 11 2025 ⛴️ The Staten Island Ferry! One of the great underrated wonders of New York; a free ferry with a great view of the Statue of Liberty, a symbol of New York, NOT of the U.S.. If you ride it for the tourism and do not want to be stranded on Staten Island for 30 more minutes be sure to rush out of the ferry and onto the returning one as fast as possible.
Oct 4 2025 🚇 I took many trains today, including the Fairmount line. The Fairmount line is the only commuter line that lets you pay with a Charlie card; you have to validate it at the platform which prints a Charlie ticket you can show to the conductor. Sadly, this is a forgotten system and there isn't even a fair validator at South Station, so I took it inbound and paid at Blue Hill Ave. Phil Eng...pls fix.
Sept 30 2025 🚌 Sammy just got back from a trip to Acadia national park and we're now on the hunt for what bus make/model Downeast Transportation uses on the island expolorer routes. The bus is high floor, approximately 40 feet long and appears to be zero emissions (maybe a battery electric?). I suspected it was a BYD bus but I cant find any model that matches this.
Sept 29 2025 🚌 On my little run around the block today I saw the BU Hyatt shuttle run by Academy. This thing cracks me up because there are two buses (2951 and 2952) and both of them are 32 foot ENC buses with a front right side door AND a left middle door which is completely blocked off. Fascinating stuff. I wonder why these buses were originally made because you dont see left side doors too often.
Sept 28 2025 🚌 I saw the rare weekend 64 bus (I STG that thing runs like once every hour and has three different routes it randomly selects one of). The 64 bus makes me think of that girl EDM song which goes
"I didn't know it would score the 64 bus home, turn a monday to a memory and change my world."
So here's to hoping that tomorrow, monday, changes my world :)
Sept 28 2025 🚌 Today the orange line was down but jeremy and I needed to get to JP so we took the 1 bus to the 39. Somehow this was my first time on the 39; it was a lot of fun and dang that bus can fly. On the way out there we got an XDE60 bus and on the way back we got a D60LFR so it was cool to ride both varieties back-to-back and compare. We thought the seats on the D60LFR were nicer.
