I remember reading that as a kid and it did inspire me a bit. its funny how holmes doesn't know that the earth revolves around the sun, but he knows his practical fields so deeply. I always wanted to pick a couple of things and know everything about them like holmes did. I've ended up a bit more scattered now, but I'm not bothered.
