The Sky
The sky is partly cloudy today, with a mixture of puffy clouds and also some wispy, stretched out clouds. The bright sun moves slowly in and out of cloud cover, providing a lot of hot sunshine, but also some periods of cool shade.
The sun is maybe 30 degrees or so above the horizon, and has not passed the meridian yet, the time being about mid-morning.
At the far opposite end of the lake, you can barely make out some large white bird, flying slowly back and forth, to the left and to the right. Out of curiosity, you pull out your low-mag "opera glass" binoculars, and try to get a better view. The details are still difficult to make out, but as best you can tell, it appears to be a short-tailed albatross. You have read about them but didn't think they could be found this far inland.
