Bog Star (publ. 2025-07-22)
I want to note that I found some Bog Star flowers next to my building at work (Fairbanks, AK) a.k.a. "Grass of Parnassus". These are not a rare flower, according to my book, but they are beautiful and I had not noticed this kind of flower before.
The ones I found have five white petals with pronounced grey veins on the petals. Five dark green sepals are on the underside of each petal. The center of each flower is has a large, pointed stigma sticking out, which is light pink. In between the petals, white projections stick out, reaching about as far out as the tips of the petals. There are also two dark green dots near the base of each petals, each of which has several very thin, light green projections reaching up from it, with yellow dots on the end of each projection. I am unclear on the function of the white projections vs the light green ones.
