2023 Week 3/4: Thoughts and Photos

I haven't been posting many logs on Gemini recently, but Rob's Capsule has been busy in other ways. I finally posted a beginner-friendly Rubik's Cube solution guide in the "Twisty Puzzles" section of the capsule, as well as an example scramble to follow along with. I plan to continue expanding the puzzle section with solution guides and puzzle information, as well as a few other interactive puzzles.

I didn't have a chance to weigh myself last weekend, but I did yesterday, and my weight went up by a pound and a half. Probably the biggest contributor was once again a lack of exercise: I struggle with motivation to exercise indoors for more than one or two consecutive days, but the weather has largely been too cold to walk around outside for extended periods of time. It doesn't help that I have only one or two ways to exercise at home right now. I should try to find more varied indoor exercise routines, in order to keep things fresh.

A few weeks ago I began to read "The Name of the Wind" by Patrick Rothfuss. The book comes highly recommended, but after the dense read that was "Mistborn", I found that I needed a break from the epic-fantasy genre. A few days ago I found a book on the 737 MAX disasters called "Flying Blind", and being an aviation enthusiast, I decided to get it. It's been an engrossing read so far.

I've had few opportunities to leave the house recently, and it's left me feeling a little down. At the moment things feel somewhat monotonous and dull. I'm sure that's contributed to the lack of new logs on my capsule. I want to do more things out of the house this week; we'll see if that makes a difference.

Return to KMCI

I don't visit the airport nearly as often as I used to, since I now work from home and our house is a very long drive away. This week I had a chance to visit during the day, and I jumped on that chance. It also gave me an opportunity to test my new smartphone's camera on a subject I've taken many photos of.

Beating an NES Classic

I loved the cartoon show "Bucky O'Hare" as a child. Many years later, I discovered that it started as a comic book series, and it had two video game adaptations. A friend sold me his copy of the NES title, and while I love playing it, the game is very difficult. This week I finally beat it on-console (without save states) for the first time--and I happened to get a 1cc to boot.
