YOU GOT MAIL

@bigassbug i know you are probly including a moment in this, which, rip, but i do agree with you. i wish there was more community overlap in our fair city... i found organizing things to be very hard and stressful and i would never do it again, but some people are sooooo good at it and i respect them for it. i welcome anyone powerful enough to take us into the new age of stl poetry
dec9
@bluet meant to say when you posted it but i really like your post from 12/3. excellent analysis. i have been in situations like this... it is tricky to navigate and keep your head sometimes
@bugleague this is me at work except the panic attack is because someone gave me a small task to actually do
@juliocesar as long as the bricks are the three ugliest shades of gray that is all that matters to me
@monotropa they should start building good stuff. im going to go tell them this >:-(
dec3

@thewiz
Once a coin has been bent or soldered to make a spoon it loses ALL of its numismatic value.
fuckkk.......
nov9
@brolin :-) bless🙏
nov7
@moldgold as mothbaby said we both saw it last night :) i liked it too, i thought the ending was a little lame (SPOILERS i didnt want her to actually be an alien) but still really good and emma stone's acting was incredible. didnt realize till i looked it up just now that it's based on a south korean cult classic ! which honestly makes the ending make more sense
nov6
@alex dam that sucks :-( yes get out of big tech!!!!! big tech should die and the corpse burned
nov5
@alex !!!!!!!! are they laying u off??? my sympathies friend
nov3

oct14 2
@ashley this is what happens when you dont take charge of halloween for yourself…..
oct14
@mothbaby yr tellin me.......................
oct13
@lucky we have similar conceptions of gender i think. i think language is good at tricking gender into existence. sometimes i think about the power of not naming a thing. we have decided to name everything, which might be a mistake. maybe gender cannot/should not be named……..
i’m not against anyone’s interpretation of their own gender though. i think in the perfect society we could all take that journey without judgment, with as much or as little binaries (of any type) as we needed, and no weight placed on any or all
oct9
@mothbaby basically bad timing…. and yes i have to work tomorrow too ;-; (but i will prob have time for coffee :P)
oct8 3
@bugleague you got this champ. the world is your oyster….. sincerely, i believe this.
oct8 2
@bugleague damn that sucks. but also damn that sucks. as an empath i feel like damn that sucks
i second ashley's message. remember: life is full of darkness!
oct8
@markers think u (cool way to say thank you)
oct7
@monotropa definitely go before/after the freeze if you haven't been, you want the bias
oct5
@monotropa i think u would really like minneapolis. cold is bad but the bikeability is crazy and the people are rlly kind and cool. ideal city imo
oct3
@gowanuscanal excellent pick for 1924. the closest up i ever saw an owl in the wild was while i was listening to rhapsody in blue
oct2
@sufficient so real
oct1
@ashley maintain current arrangement but you shrink to margot height

aug22 2
@starjump ohhhhhhhhh i'm listening now and i love it !!
@starjump i just looked at where my house is on wplace (never went on there before) and the nearest things are the folks from VVVVVV and what i think is a tiny madoka? i'll take it
aug22
@moldgold everyone loves gubble, the individual front and center on the cover of gubble 2
aug21
@moldgold monkey automobile program
aug19
@starjump just saw yr message yesssssss it rocks
aug18 2
@alex so why IS everyone on the dumbphone subreddit obsessed with daily carries? it’s all the same hidden away in ya cargo pants
aug18
@bugleague if it's any consolation, me and many individuals i know have been in a funk....... i believe in you
aug14
@bigassbug @petethecat love
aug10
@blueplanet wow we have EXTREMELY similar video game taste. oracle of ages, SA2, MGS2, FFTA, TWEWY, Spore (a game with much undeserved hate), dark souls, hitman, outer wilds, hypnospace outlaw... those are all some of the best Video Games ever Made
have you played 999? that game was huge in my childhood. that and hollow knight are two of the very few additions i would make to this list :P
i also highly recommend Anthology Of The Killer, great recent game
aug7
@bluet lolllllllllll
aug5 2
@blueplanet oh they totally are (the grad programs...), but when i got my MA i found out i love teaching college kids and i think this is a fun path back to that... plus getting paid (poorly) to write is cool. i am confident i can pour at least three professors/students into MY mold >:-) (NOT sexual)
awesome tattoo. my only literary tattoo is the bird kite from bram stoker's Lair Of The White Worm because i love it so much (the book is terrible)
aug5
@blueplanet wow thank you so much for the recs!! i have read none of these so i will add them to my list. i actually found out about bolano from flounder (flounder user em), so i am keen to follow more flounder book trails
and also thanks for reading so much of my stuff! glad you enjoyed it :) i love to write funny (and incredibly deep too of course.......)
i love the pick your own adventure on flounder concept btw... i will have to go venturing in soon
aug4
@brolin mfa yes... thank u! :) and yes i see the night sky too rarely....
aug1
@blueplanet savage detectives excellent choice... AND you picked the best cixin liu book. still thinking about the weird imaginary girlfriend...
have you read faulkner's pylon? if you like him a lot i suggest it
jul30
@bluet wow what i didn't realize you went to truman at some point... i wonder who this freako guy was and if i knew him........
@bluet oh yup yup. yes. mothbaby texted me and guessed it immediately after you posted lol. i do not like that guy
jul29
@mothbaby frankly i want to hear more about this baptism
@mothbaby yeeeeeeesh......... i assume this is the podcast coworker?
jul25
@bluet empathy beam emitting from my head to your location. also i am so butler coded at my job when i work with the public
jul22 2
@mothbaby :-)
@brolin i do this same thing. also the ads on twitter make me terrified now
@foreverdirt aww thank u!! :)
jul22
@alex this schedule would kill me
jul21
@mothbaby freya tube system and slide
jul17
@starjump i love porpentine! this writeup they did is what inspired me to never charge for anything i make ever again
(bugleague this is what i was gonna send to you that i mentioned on vacay)
jul16
@bigassbug i agree and vibe with everything you have said and are saying today
jul15
@brolin ty!! it was fun :3
jul3 2
@mothbaby if it’s like mine it did not last long !!! feel like we barely hanged between our respective vacations :’(
jul3
@foreverdirt i know about susan boyle mostly through the famous hashtag #susanalbumparty ... i think about it too much
jul2
@moldgold this truly fleshes out the idea of an evil tour. evil moldgold be like creating is a lowly impersonal stagnation and it sucks
jul1
@bugleague can't wait to see mario and luigi's new place
@funkengine dam that's fast i havent finished it yet and im beyond 8 minutes. and sorry but in this office we wear pink on pink day
jun30
@punkreflex lol im glad he enjoyed it. im too scared for him to meet my friends. i need to do an improv show so they all have something to look at.....
jun27
@punkreflex i.. didnt even notice that….
jun25 2
@alex i keep thinking these mtg posts are poems
jun25
@bugleague wow i had totally forgotten about that. wonder if it was the same guy.... would suck for them
@punkreflex weird guys love to involve me. makes me feel like a fifty year old suit-wearing man from a sitcom who's like "would you STOP that RACKET"
jun24
@bugleague is this like mario mario
jun23
@moldgold i think about that every time i eat corn
jun22
@ashley epick
jun19
@bugleague sorry to hear about yr fish :-(
jun18
@moldgold i know i realized too late ;-;
jun16
@starjump nice that makes me feel like i still got it
i played the first four parts last night i was going gaga heart eyes, def recommend !
jun13
@mothbaby scatman john?
@mothbaby awesome, love that one
jun12
@mothbaby i told my celebrity crush last night that we are neck and neck in the mini

@moldgold good song
jun9
@moldgold ohhh i like this john beabout music
jun6
@markers real
@brolin good to know, will keep in mind if i end up goin back to the first books !!
jun5
@mothbaby no excuses
@brolin i found out about them cuz you talked about it on here once! not sure why i started in the middle, i think i was like "might as well read the famous one if i end up only reading one of these..."
would you say the early ones are worth reading?
jun3
@mothbaby ashley keeps beating me too... i'm losing my touch...
(actually tho i let my little brother do that one, and he wore a blindfold)
jun2
@moldgold sorry i couldn't make it ;-; also im glad you enjoyed bici i figured that was right up your alley tbh
@foreverdirt wow...... what a strange world we live in where people feel they can say things like that
@foreverdirt wait what like he's worried they're gaining weight or something? wtf?
may28
@funkengine ;-; i feel so bad for you. at least your boss is back now to do nothing about anything
@bugleague holy shit this is the list to end all lists. you should watch moomin for real it's free on youtube
may27
@ashley LOLLL
@ashley praying for the foot fetish to kick in soon, all the other pisces are making fun of my for not getting off foot-style
may26
@ashley i believe my father may be collaborating on this book (side note, he actually is always saying he wants to write a book about his life "so people don't make the same mistakes he did", emo dad)
@punkreflex thank you🙏
@arielatthewheel nice, this makes me feel like i have already chosen the correct youtube weatherman for me personally. a good feeling
may22
@funkengine hi from the ether
@arielatthewheel i have heard of ryan hall but haven't watched him... what is his vibe compared to max? i get wanting to manage your channels on youtube, i try to keep my subscription box sparse cuz i do actually use it over the "home" page
may21
@mothbaby feeling this hard this week. dicking around at work doing nothing and then going home, cleaning out my car, working out, having lunch, going shopping, then coming back to work to dick around again is the american edifice
@ashley this anger feels incredibly justified
may20
@bugleague ohhhhhh yes i want to see it
may19
@punkreflex album rocks. reminds me of altin gun
may18 2
@punkreflex niiiiiice
@ashley beck is super chill, he doesn't even understand when another dog is literally attacking him, which is so sweet it makes me cry
i used to wear asics too! they are a good shoe. good for any future marathon. but they will not help you with the crossword mini :)
may18
@bigassbug thank you, i love yr list too... we could pool all these lists and have a killer charades game
@ashley they did not make me run on a treadmill THANKFULLY, i have had to do that before when i was a cross country running youth, and yes it it sucks ass. i can't believe they made you do more than that like how much can you really tell about what running shoes someone needs from a squat
shoes are fucking weird, reading people talk about them on reddit is insane it's like they're building the next space shuttle
what kind of shoes do you run in?? and also i TOTALLY get the other dogs thing, i hope margot can be mostly at peace with it as the warmer months circle in... in my head i call it the Dog Maze cuz you have to keep switching streets and changing your route to avoid the countless dog.
are you running a marathon soon???
may17
@evilswampmonster this is a required phase of every artist
may16
@funkengine welcome back to flounder coworker. better not see you floundering on company time
@ashley omg the store person is the worst. i am already mentally preparing to shut that guy down. just let me look at your shoes. let me in the storage room in the back if that makes it easier
alex come to stl and come to the shoe store with me
@mothbaby to be fair that was good wine
may15
@ztbd @ashley mad at ts eliot for saying that shit about poe. c auguste dupin spinning in his fucking grave
i forgive him since he wrote the cats book
@ztbd @ashley interesting. i'm always fascinated by the (at least perceivably existent) past world where poetry was important enough to influence one country more than another... i'm sure it does now but no one i know is talking about it.
and yeah i want my job to interact with ts eliot... we did have martha stewart come talk once... close enough
may14
@punkreflex as st louis’s resident feast dreamer, i say the more feasts the better
may13
@alex i like alex list. i think youre on to something with that one
@foreverdirt thank you!!!!!
may12
@brolin CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so happy for you and your wife!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! yipee
may11

may9
@foreverdirt lovely sestina. i did not know about this format of poem and i like it!!
may7 2
@bugleague
"I’m taking a picture of myself in the mirror
And I’m giving me a thumbs up react
Then i look at it too long
And now all i see is The Creature"
very disco elysium
@starjump same! :-)
may7
@brolin i am very excited for u!!!!
@mothbaby happy last day!! treeprophet and i are on the same wavelength, i am about to start playing super mario galaxy again. also if you want to play through odyssey you can borrow my switch if you want! i am not using it atm. or there may be a way to transfer it to you using the newfangled "virtual game card" system, not sure how that works
@mothbaby wow finally, a family that matters. lets do it
may6
@ashley i can taste this cake thru the screen :( i feel like ive had that goop before…. not good
@ashley thank you.
may5
@moldgold there's a waiting list????? i could totally front as mr. jamiroquai aka jay kay, he is living within me i know. strokes would be awesome
may4
@ashley he is indeed named after beck the musical artist :P i was talking to someone recently whose dog is named after a game of thrones character.. both our dogs are 7 years old and we were like “funny to have this reflection of who we were 7 years ago walkin around with us”
@bugleague blessings upon you and your house
may2 2
@evilswampmonster good poem alert
may2
@mo-money oh shit
may1
@ashley she's so cute :3 she looks like she is soaking up the world
apr30
@bugleague i think your rankings are very similar to mine except i'm naked more. i went out to my backyard with no pants on and sat and read the other day and felt pretty comfortable about it (boxer shorts). i agree with mothbaby that if you are looking in people's windows you must take the freak label unto yourself and no one else. unless something crazy's happening in there
i think the only thing we are doing wrong is we need robes. we gotta get robes and work those in. i used to have a robe and it fucking rocked. i can't remember what happened to it, but i do remember i used the tie-string as a dog toy when beck was a puppy
apr29
@bugleague four panel…… masterpiece poem
apr29
@james jealous :P i respect your bird knowing. my mom identified a cardinal's call through the phone recently and it moved me.... i would like to know more birdcalls
apr28
@bigassbug congrats on moving :)
@bugleague i forgot to say this when you posted abt it the other day, but i think you are doing the mullet exactly right. the last many times i have seen you i have been like wow they really figured that out. they have great hair
apr25
@ashley glad it got to you :) :) if i ever go to new york you will be the first to know !!!!
apr24
@alex perfect fit for the libs
@mothbaby ugh same ;-;
@ztbd sooo............ what happens to these tapes? do they go anywhere when they've been digitized? can they disappear? can they show up in my house by pure chance?
apr22 2
@daniel
apr22
@petethecat curious what you thought of the price of salt? i kinda wanna read it
apr21
@bugleague let's just say the smoke coming out of the conclave… it is weed, smoke
@ashley i too have never been a big biking head. don't know what it is. you would think going fast on a contraption would be an automatic blast
apr19
@brolin thank uuuuuuuuuuuuuu :-)
apr17 2
@markers congrats king
apr17
@mothbaby definitely worth it, whenever u are ready for more outer wilds (which may be now)
apr16
@ztbd honestly sounds like my dream job. tho im sure it wears upon you..... i love tapes
apr14 2
@bugleague wow i forgot i had a celebrity crush until you mentioned the mom from johnny test
apr14
@bugleague thank you thank you. glad you're deciding to get serious :-<
apr12
@arielatthewheel soo true! ursula le guin is a truly incredible writer, im always astounded by how much she has to say… when i read the dispossessed it put a lot of things i had been only half thinking into clear view and i felt like i finally understood so much about the world… she is lovely!! im really enjoying the 4th book so far, the explorations of womanhood are great
@ztbd wonderful quote honestly. we forget how powerful writing is! it’s not really built in evolution-wise, we hacked it in. it’s a cheat code for the human brain and we treat it callously these days….
apr10
@ashley it's so powerful... leaving myself a good review
@monotropa good suggestions! i think one of my goals with this stuff is i want a cute fun looking phone, so i prob wouldn't go this route myself but it is good 2 know
@mo-money you are really killing it on flounder so far
apr9
@brolin :) never read pynchon but hicks mctaggart is a grade a name
@bugleague i pirated the first season last night
apr8
@moldgold i could have written this comment
apr7 2
@petethecat are you named pete the cat after the amazingly stoned childrens book character
apr7
@punkreflex NO
@foreverdirt i never thought about why work annoys me in this way but you are so right, i have a coworker who is almost exactly 10 years older than me but on the same paygrade and she is always chip-on-her-shouldering me, it's sooooo lame
@bugleague watch out for boulders!!!!!
@uncle-altoid saddest part of the book for sure :-( funnily im at a very similar part in her book The Farthest Shore and i haven't read it for like a week cuz i'm afraid lol
apr4
@ashley goodreads reviews are insane. someone has to have written an article about how weird they are. and they're all so damn long...... when they start including reaction images i have to leave
apr3 2
@punkreflex punkreflex doesn't know what a stop sign is.....
apr3
@brolin and @mothbaby real. that thing hard to drive
apr2 2
@moldgold i am partial to this one
apr2
@markers now we have no winky, no dipsy, no la, and no po
@bugleague every morning i jump off my roof into a hay bale
apr1 3
@brolin heavily recommend outer wilds, i love it
apr1 2
@foreverdirt haha will do 🙏
apr1
@brolin congrats on your momentous accomplishment *salute*
@mothbaby they won't ;-; you should buy hollow knight it's like 15 bucks or something !! or outer wilds :)
@mothbaby real! you might also like hades. kind of a diablo-esque game
mar31
@markers are people saying you can age out of coffee ???
@moldgold our macklemore + ryan lewis era…..
mar28
@punkreflex crazy that david foster wallace saw my dad act in the famous short "antiques roadshow" and wrote about it
mar27
@punkreflex TUCKED like im king of the dam office
mar26 3
@alex i thought fashion was solved
mar26 2
@punkreflex good and important question
@bugleague i did look at the light phone and it is def interesting, but my problem with it is it looks too normal... i am a little fascinated by this phone:
which i think can still do maps and stuff. but yeah ideally i could use like a brick flip phone and maybe have a separate gps in my car???
i totally agree with you, it's just more magical to have one device do one thing, why did they combine all this shit into one device, it makes the device too powerful and it rules over your life, human beings themselves can do like 5 different things and that's already too much, we made the ubermensch out of metal and plastic and now we realize we walked so it could run... and it's running too fast (slam poem intitiate)
i was just talking to punkreflex about how you can now react to an imessage with any emoji... hard to give that up
mar26
@bugleague "worm from home" yeah
mar25 2
@uncle-altoid lol
mar25
@moldgold he was giant stepping
@bugleague that's awesome and makes so much sense for you
mar24
@ztbd my dad is in this funnel because of rick steves
mar21 2
@punkreflex absolutely
mar21
@moldgold are you in the museum? i have to get lunch with my boss today *skull* but i could drop by !
mar20
@moldgold threads vibes
mar19
@punkreflex yes, with five square
@bugleague you know what other movie had a silly guy and alien goobers? a movie that was actually good? roswell (mic drop) no but i get what u say
@ztbd glad we are in agreement. also you have to stop apologizing for everything you say to anyone it’s not healthy for you😤
mar18
@uncle-altoid damn that sounds tough... sounds like you need a vacation to st louis... and you should probably bring your cool roommate with you... please...
mar12
@ashley i laughed and cried at your magical apple tale
mar7
@punkreflex i cant wait to dress up as a character i dont know from the famous book infinite jest
mar5
@punkreflex haha yeah on discogs they are magnet(8) cuz i guess theres 7 other magnets... glad you liked :-)
mar4
@jan oh nice!! word, yes it is a lovely game. made me cry heaving sobs when i first played it...
i really want to play northern journey, ive heard from other peeps it is cool!
mar2
@jan as a “gamer” with similar taste to you (though hollow knight would be much higher), i recommend outer wilds
mar1 2
@ztbd thank you zach! :)
mar1
@ashley thank u!!!!!!!!!! :-)
@uncle-altoid uncle altoid has seen mr beast’s game….. was this his true goal all along…..
feb26
@markers i knew what song before i clicked
feb25 2
@moldgold nice i haven't read that one. he is cool
feb25
@bugleague i am sorry to say that your poems are too good for this world. they will now be Flushed by the Godhead
@moldgold which borges story
feb24
@punkreflex damn i went ;-; you might be pleased to know that it wasn't a very good film. i'm a big fan of the short story so i had to make sure.....
i'll be at the greg mendez show tho!! excited to see u there :-)
feb21
@bugleague re: your job… sounds like this here individual could use a small 3-4 day vacation!!!! to the state of minnesota!!!!!!
feb20
@ashley crime and punishment rocks, big agree. two thoughts about war and peace... i think it was probably the greatest book ever when it was coming out monthly/quarterly/whatevs in some russian magazine and you could catch the next war and peace installment like you can catch the next issue of one piece today... less repetitive when it's spread out like that maybe?
second, i was somewhat tainted by the fact that the professor for that class was kind of a weirdo shitbag... in another class he got mad that people were making fun of ulysses and cancelled the class halfway through the semester, he was just like "i'm going to give you all As but i'm not going to teach you anymore"... wild stuff
feb18
@ashley i read war and peace in college and i would say he is a very good writer who didn't really need to be writing the longest books ever... like it felt like the same book five times combined into one book... but it was interesting. if you read AK i am curious to know what it's like !!
feb17 2
@jmax real, garamond rocks. fucked up they didnt use it on the ipods past the first gen
@evilswampmonster deal
feb17
@evilswampmonster you gotta let me come play these sometime……
feb15
@punkreflex good job i had my finger on the send button to email your boss… slowly lifting it
feb14
@jmax i share your sentiment that live laugh love are words to live by. i blame the font choices
feb11
@brolin ohh both good suggestions. i have added them to my list! i (semi-legitimately) love when literary people are afraid to say they've written genre fiction
feb9
@uncle-altoid what book ?
feb6 2
@bugleague i am also so annoyed by my coworkers. they get worse day by day. half of it is because i'm an antisocial jackass but the other half is definitely because they're freaking annoying
feb6
@bugleague i want you to talk to me about rivers. soon...
@brolin it would be the greatest meeting of the minds of our time....
feb3
@punkreflex real as hell
jan30 2
@ashley soooo true, and they can be so stoic about their problems! can break yr dang heart. i hope margot's water intake does not increase to more worrisome levels!!!
jan30
@ashley i totally get the dog thing, i have been in that position before with my dog. the thing that stops me is i have taken him to the vet for pretty serious things in the past, and they are just like "yeah it'll go away" and charge me 400 bucks...... a real conundrum
@mothbaby it's pretty dam valid to be upset right now. i think you are right that it feels like we are losing our thoughts to reaction, whether that be the "rational" gotta-stay-thinking-i'm-in-control reaction of "what did you expect?" or the equally useless doom and gloom narrative that just depresses everyone and doesn't change anything... we need a middle ground. some kind of "center-ist"
jan29 3
@bugleague we failed to re-elect him... or HER....... >_< @@
jan29 2
@ztbd is this the subtle portent of orange foods physical release
@bugleague pleased to have inspired you with my mice
jan29
@bugleague excellent poems lately
jan20
@big-green-girl “you must love with an open palm” is so good im stealing it for my thoughts
jan19
@mothbaby oh no :(
jan18
@mothbaby all my friends becoming anti-weed. in the end i am victorious.
jan15 2
@ashley thank you! :) sorry to hear about your raise (rare sentence)
jan15
@big-green-girl real as hell
jan11
@brolin it is! ive had it for so long, i’m glad theyre cutting it out even though im a little terrified of the cutting itself. good luck with yours!! they are very annoying
jan8
@brolin soooo true, i didn't think about the true crime relation but that is a very real parallel. yeah the constant repetition of the deaths was numbing by the end, i never expected it to resolve or "solve" the murders even from the beginning but the way it ended was really powerful to me, the politician woman's story especially because it revealed a lot that kind of made me feel like "wow, even if you dig into this it's just nebulousness and conjecture in an extremely realistic way"... i also liked all the talk about people saying "this could never happen in the US", which is true and untrue and horrifying all at the same time...
i'm excited to read your thoughts when i'm done!
@evilswampmonster excellent in/out list and i really like the realizations/thoughts you had on 1/7! defintiely something i have had to/am grappling with. always weird too to be in that "getting my degree" senioritis limbo state where it both matters a lot and barely matters at all anymore...
jan6
@ashley i enjoyed reading your year end writeup. i also spent a season reading moby dick (it was fall)… i was listening to the audiobook and i would lay down in my shitty college dorm loft bed and listen to it for hours staring at the ceiling… definitely a crazy book that exists and probably hasn’t been specifically replicated since
jan3
@moldgold optimistically, this means you are about to epiphany into something EXTREMELY important
dec30
@markers hi markerz :)
dec27
@moldgold garden glow needs to die
dec26
@brolin writing it down in my recommendation notes app note
dec24
@brolin yeah it rocks. i have not watched guy montspelling bee but you have given me motivation to do so😤i have heard that it is good!! i love those fellers they got me into sex and the city
would be remiss if i did not recommend to you my other favorite podcast “372 pages we’ll never get back” which scratches a similar but slightly different itch
dec23
@brolin BRUH worst idea of all time is one of my favorite podcasts ever. i listen to it all the time. prawn salad is one of the best podcast episodes ever made
dec20
@brolin haha yeah i wrote that while listening to it in the background at my office job lol
dec19
@ztbd many good thoughts :0 i was thinking about guitar pedals basically, like what are the distortive tricks you can pull on language in a similar way...... like what is the equivalent of making a guitar sound fuzzy in language, how do you make words sound fuzzy... still thinking
dec17
@evilswampmonster aww, i wouldn't feel too bad about that. i think 90% of us have been in that spot where we're halfway out the door and then we're like "wait maybe this could work please???????" i know i have. unfortunately it usually totally doesnt haha
have you heard back from your landlord yet? it could be bad but i do feel like most people i know who have had to break their lease were successful at figuring it out with their landlord minus a few small expenses. landlords are terrible so there's always a chance it'll get messy but i would be modestly hopeful
breaking up is so hard. it sucks to be broken up with, but it also sucks to be the person doing the breaking up. because you're hurting yourself and hurting the other person at the same time. like stabbing a sword through yourself into the other person too. and it takes so much strength to even get to the point to pull that off. and it's painful. but then 3 months later it turns out the sword was one of those retractable prop swords and really you had to do it to stop each other from constantly flicking each other on the nose until the end of time, and maybe it's all good
please excuse my flounder at work ramblings and i'm wishing u the best!!!!
dec16
@punkreflex i enjoyed reading your entry today. i think about that kind of thing a lot, and have made a similar (i think) realization that i need to relinquish, for a while, the intense emotional importance i place on romantic relationships.
i become emotionally attached very quickly because of abandonment issues from when i was a kid, but i think the flipside of living an isolated childhood is that i (and you) have the potential for much self-realization and growth independent from anyone else. which, when balanced with friendship and relationships and stuff, can be an extremely powerful thing, maybe the most important thing for the "completeness" of a life.
i'm trying to get into the mindset where i date more "casually", which is crazy because i always kind of thought that was a dumb way to go about it, but now i'm thinking that might work for me..... because maybe then i can build up to a point where i can be independent and in a committed relationship at the same time...
anyway i wish you the best of luck :-)
dec10
@alex you should visit st louis
we could have a flounder meetup
@moldgold haha
dec9
@evilswampmonster thank u !!!
dec6
@evilswampmonster my moms bday was also yesterday :0 :0 :0 :0 (she came into town last weekend but i didnt see her cuz i was sick and i was a little grateful for that) also ack that is such a tough place to be, take care of yourself!!!!!! you must take care of yourself at all costs. see you tonite if you end up coming :-)

nov30
@moldgold starting my head bandana era
nov25
@mothbaby lol
nov21
@bugleague :0 are u gonna come to the glass mattress show ?
nov14
@ztbd cool elephant rock painting
oct31
@moldgold cooool! the one random guy i talked to at the show was there to see them, he told me their genre was undefinable... i said it's got some country in there and he was like really? and i was like "ya you know it's got that twang" and he was like "you're right it does have that twang"
@bugleague going full einstein, sticking my tongue out, oral for the universe
oct29
@alex wow memes and the vessel in one page. true dystopia
@hmmmmmm i am addicted to reading relationship advice online but i don't actually know anything but i will say if you feel like you're doing the same thing over and over again and it's not working then you should end it... but if the pattern seems breakable then maybe it's worth trying
oct19
@ztbd playing solitaire crash won't make you're a millionaire. but if you're willing to get off your ass for once and play our damn game, maybe your wife will like you. maybe someone will smile at you sincerely for the first time in years. maybe god is real in our game. i don't know.
oct17
@meggplant congrats !!!!!
oct10 2
@alex move to stl it'll fix you i promise
oct10
@mothbaby wow awesome cant wait
oct9
@mothbaby im going to ask you to describe this entire interaction in great detail tomorrow at band practice
oct8
@evilswampmonster totally. it's like ok if you want this to be your life that's up to you. but wow it couldn't be me.
sep25
@alex real. got yr zine btw thank u :3
sep24
@mothbaby it's so good
sep20
@moldgold i am going to see being dead in chicago in october!!
sep18
@moldgold most world war vibes in a long time for sure..........
sep16
@uncle-altoid i dont think its messy to flirt and pursue someone as long as u take it slow and vibe check how the other person is feeling! better to be true abt it and i think u can still make friends at the same time ! good luck
sep13
@punkreflex vibes haha. an understandable result of suburb vision. i will not be at the show tonite (i will be camping!) but have fun!!!!!
@punkreflex my subconscious gossip brain wants more details but i will restrain myself and offer my solemn congratulations
sep10
@brolin congratulations!!!!!!!!
@meggplant ;-; stay strong friend
@evilswampmonster late reply but it's so weird when you stop living with your parents and it's like a version of the princess and the pea where the pea is suddenly removed and you're like "oh shit there was a pea there that whole time. that was actually a really uncomfortable pea" ....... been there
sep5
@meggplant congrats!! :)
@moldgold my thoughts exactly. makes me feel like we need more skill shares/community classes, although i know some of that happens already. like, i would love to have someone in the community talk to me about drawing for an hour. or i could start a writing workshop or something. maybe this is the real goal
aug27
@meggplant thank u for the reassurance friend. yes it is the world's worst conundrum......
aug21
@starjump indeed indeed exactly exactly this is it
aug15
@brolin oh hell yeah i’ll read this when i finish !!
aug14
@brolin ok awesome that makes me excited to read the rest of it! yeah the pale king intrigues me too… there is something unique and powerful about a bunch of fragments that weren’t quite drawn together…..
@brolin hmm basically i thought the first section was pretty stuffy, the second section was more interesting, really liked the third part, now i’m just starting part four out of five. i think it has definitely gotten better as it goes on, but for now i think savage detectives was more tightly written
also whenever i read a posthumously published book im always thinking like “dam he toootally would have taken that part out in the final edit” which is a thing i do for no reason that hurts my enjoyment
all that said i think bolano is a genius and all his writing is fantastic
have you read it ?
aug1
@bugleague hi bugleage, i like this joke and found myself heartily chuckling. thank you for bringing light to this day. idi blasks
jul30
@moldgold true, i was going to vote for jill stein until biden dropped out. i didn't realize it could have an impact on funding. so maybe that is the right way to go. i wish our votes actually mattered for the election!!!!
jul25
@evilswampmonster that's gotta be it
jul22
@meggplant this is relatable and real…….
jul19
@ztbd experts claim it is "funny" when the guy slips on banana peel
@ztbd loooooooooooooooooooooooooool
and not to "butt in" but as a "fellow mobot employee"... yes they are
it is ironic that cloud strike, a company with name of cloud strike, actually struck a cloud this friday morning
jul12
@brolin we could do it so much better.......
jul8 2
@starjump i love ghost trick!!!!!!! i think i will replay it soon. i was listening to the soundtrack today
jul8
@brolin o damn i need to do that
jul5
@starjump wow decker looks cool as hell
jun28
@moldgold being dead rocks. you should get them to come play in stl using your diy magic
jun27
@evilswampmonster bad :(
jun25
@moldgold wow i really like that song you were on with mike! it's awesome
jun12
@bugleague i have a lot of complicated thoughts about steve jobs (more than bob hope and johnny cash for sure) and in my heart there's an evil devil steve jobs and an angel artist steve jobs that i pray to occasionally and i really want to believe ol' steve would hate this ai shit. probably he wouldn't, but i wish angel steve jobs were here to tell tim cook to shove it
may31
@brolin yes it is rather wild i think it was the first console with a built in modem! the way you do it is by having a raspberry pi act as a fake dialup phone line thing using a usb->line adapter...... and dreamcast fanatics have made a bunch of new servers so you can play multiplayer stuff, it's fun!
i love flounder for being accessible by old stuff
may30
@bugleague ya i agree with u, the more ive thought about it the more i like how they did it. doesnt fully erase my qualms but im prepared to say it's a quitegood movie
@starjump i've enjoyed reading your thoughts on tv glow too, definitely a film that does not go as deep as the depths of itch.io but what film can claim that lofty accolade
may29 2 tv glow spoilerz
@bugleague i agree with everything u say. i do think the ending colors the rest of the movie and makes it more interesting. like, the expectation is that he will someday find his way out of the nightmare world and the fact that he doesnt kinda makes you go "oh that's what the movie is about". i think the weakness of that is that you have to get to the end of the movie to have that realization and it makes for a weird first viewing experience.
the other thing mothbaby and i were talking abt after we saw it is that the movie kind of uses suicide as part of its metaphor in a weird way that kinda makes it seem like it's pro suicide? i dont think it is but the concept of burying your current self to free your real (trans) self being linked to literally ending your life is strange (speaking of life is strange, this movie reminded me of life is strange).
but overall yeah i think the more i think about it the more i think i liked the movie a lot. feels like reflecting on it has made me like it more than i did when i was watching it
also ive already told this story to mothbaby and X so i will cease bragging after this but this movie shows a clip from tux and fanny in it and an essay i wrote about tux and fanny was printed in a booklet that came with the first vhs release of tux and fanny. so basically im a character in this movie (much like you are in the bear season 3)
may29
@moldgold classic
may28
@ztbd thank u haha. at the core of things i am pretty ok :-)
may23
@brolin ooooooh cool it looks very nice
@brolin ok good to know, i'll try it out. yeah it's so bad out there now :(
may8
@starjump thanks haha. it's so crazy
apr22
@evilswampmonster that's awesome. im a huge fan of youtube on the ipad
@ztbd dam i forgot about kirk camerons perfect banana. forgot we already proved god.....
apr10
@uncle-altoid yes u have interpreted my cool "generation Z" words correctly... i am on the tea train. glad to be here
apr2
@bugleague do u think if steve actually went to hooters he would die like icarus
mar28
@uncle-altoid omg r u housesitting in stl this summer???
mar22
@bugleague holy crap lol
mar8
@punkreflex oh wow! yeah it really sneaks up on you. i so get what you were saying abt how it was in the background and now it's like, more pronounced... have experienced that for sure -_-
mar7
@punkreflex @uncle-altoid thats the lou i met too!!!! they were so cool and were also reading bolano and le guin literally my literary twin i was amazed. someone should tell them abt flounder
@punkreflex not to psychoanalyze you over flounder my friend but that's literally the kind of OCD i had for most of my life... i think you are making the right decision by getting therapy for it. it is anxiety and not good and, rather paradoxically, will be the thing that makes things go not right -_- much love from a fellow human bean <3
mar6
@starjump ikr?? i'm so sad about what happened at ZA/UM... i hope the writers will find a way to regroup and make another game someday. i was listening to interviews with robert kurvitz and that guy is so smart it's crazy lol
mar5
@bugleague frog day :-)
@punkreflex nice and dang probly a different person i met a lou once too and she was really cool also
@punkreflex mmmm was she older seeming (30s?) and where did you meet her?
feb26

feb22
@evilswampmonster it's so coooooooooool :0
feb19
@ztbd thank u for this Link
feb18
@ztbd i really like that forest park painting. also your reading of the roy orbison story at the open mic was so good. the tone was perfect
feb13
@evilswampmonster it was so sad :-(
@evilswampmonster i also started watching house because u were talking abt it!!! im four episodes in. just got to the one with the babies ;-;
feb8
@punkreflex dam im green with envy at your day that sounds awesome
feb6
@mothbaby i feel that dawg obvi rotting isn't great but it's sometimes just as weird to be caught in a state of limbo where you know you're depressed but you're just kind of doing your little life loop anyway... i guess the best outcome here is coming out of the depression eventually, realizing it wasn't that deep, and being glad to have sustained onesself... the worse outcome being still depressed and not able to figure out the underlying reasons for it.
right now i'm blaming the weather and i truly believe that's the reason... here's hoping
feb4
@ztbd tanks ^_^ :-)
feb2
@uncle-altoid i just realized u messaged me! i dont remember what my dnd char was but im glad easter christmas is remembered. i remember those 2 dnd sessions fondly. i like yr last post abt yr dreams :)
jan31
@mothbaby even multiple people outside of flounder i know have been having crazy dreams.......... what da heck
jan30
@moldgold can't believe you genre stunners are fucking around with the punk rock loving populous like that
jan27
@punkreflex it was good to see you! :)
@moldgold that first guy was so funny. apparently he had just moved here so i get it. but it's so funny to come to the experimental open mic and be like "she's got it all, she makes me go woah, she makes me go oh oh"
jan25
@bugleague those pirate names are so good
jan24
@brolin lol thats wild i remember when future islands went on letterman my dad was like this guy's craaaazyyy
jan23
@alex tibetan monks came to my town when i was in high school and created one of these. it was really cool to see
jan22
@punkreflex thats awesome and i love that yalls relationship is so sweet :)
jan16
@moldgold are you, the illustrious moldgold, submitting to the tmbg zine? i'm def gonna try to. is there any need for art or writing over the other?
also i'm home tonight i could come get that table or you could drop it off whatever woiks :-)
jan14 2
@meggplant that sounds absolutely awful and i’m sorry that happened 2 u :-(
@alex oh man damn that sucks!! wow
jan14
@ztbd it was! it rocked, ive never seen so many zines in one place
jan10
@alex whoa does that affect you/your coworkers at all?
@evilswampmonster i feel that. i'm consistently surprised i'm functioning at all it's so cold :((((
jan8
@meggplant hi pal!!
jan1
@alioop thank u!! yes, it’s always a challenge and a strange mix of good and bad. the guilt is real. families seem to love guilt, i’ve never felt guilt deeper than with my parents :P
dec27
@moldgold i had to answer 1,000,000,000 calls about it earlier
dec21
@ztbd congrats!!!
@punkreflex :-)
dec18
@evilswampmonster i am sorry to have started you on this path of ill fortune
dec15
@moldgold bruv sadly i can't go back to tidal i don't have it in me but if you wanna split up the plan that's #finewithme
and online for sure, in person everyone i know is lovely and would never do that

dec7 2
@bugleague
dec7
@ztbd i really like these recent paintings you've been posting
nov30
@bluet just wanted to let you know that after reading your page i have started to say 'yeyuh' in my daily life
nov29
@moldgold post that shit
nov27 2
@evilswampmonster aww thanks (your real name), and don't worry at all about "making the post about yourself" ... i think relating to/identifying with pain is good and helpful and also it makes me feel comforted that other people go through this stuff. it really is crazy, and i don't know if you can relate to this part too but it's that weird thing where like, at the end of the day, were an observer to look at things "objectively", my parents aren't the worst parents ever (though they are far from the best, of course). but in some ways that comes with it's own difficulties... sorting the good from the bad, keeping these people in your life but at a distance you're comfortable with, choosing which battles to fight and which to let go... it can get really hard. i wish you luck out there :)
nov27
@bluet i didnt know what a nugget couch was but now i want one
@moldgold good luck
@ztbd it was the moment open mic lol. i havent been to the one at heavy anchor either. i have a fear that all other open mics are swarms of acoustic guitarmen
nov23
@punkreflex yes i think i will be there! :-)
@moldgold thanks. it’s been kind of classic visit with my parents. also i found that picture of J building a hotwheel track onto your arm the other day. kid has always been cute :-V
@moldgold rip lol
nov16
@evilswampmonster this i believe
nov13
@mothbaby the solution is to find a real nice painting and strap it to your monitor so you can look at it while "working"
also i love that your cats are in every dream
@evilswampmonster the rare non-reply flounder message... i found an al purdy poem collection in chicago and i bought it and am reading it :-)
nov11
@ztbd thank youuu!!! :)
nov9
@moldgold lol which coworker
nov8
@evilswampmonster wow i loved that. i did not know about al purdy
nov6
@punkreflex :-)
@evilswampmonster wow im excited abt yr zine !!
oct19
@evilswampmonster i hope u get better soon!!!!!! :-)
oct13
@brolin nice, yeah i don't read it too often but it scratches an "office drama" itch for sure
sep25
@big-green-girl cannot overstate to you enough how much i am looking forward to a sad winter. i think it will fix all my problems.
sep17
@moldgold222 so when does mold gold cover steely dan

@evilswampmonster flounder and the city
aug21
@punkreflex <3

jul19

jun9
@evilswampmonster is it shakespeare in the park yer going to? me and several other flounderfolk will be there! we will look for ya
may23
@alex i want to read this bad poem article
may17
@alex that's the only funny old movie i ever seen. i tried to watch airplane once and it was insufferable
@evilswampmonster come high as hell
@danielonit happy birthday!!
may8
@evilswampmonster :) :) :)
@moldgold that picture of noomi and bandit is so so cute
may1
@evilswampmonster i can relate so much to your thoughts on anxiety. self-acceptance and perception of how other other people act is so tied together, it's wild. i still have a really hard time with believing in "my own truth" sometimes. i wish you all the best :)
AND my grandma is also super anxious! probably the most anxious person i know! she has been afraid to drive over bridges for the last like 30 years. but i think we slowly realized that was an excuse and she's really just afraid to go see anyone or do anything. which is more sad :(
apr19
@bugleague HOLY MOLE u got a real live picture of something strange amazing and powerful, it revealed itself to you
@ztbd i have a roland 404a and i have no idea how to use it, i press the buttons things happen i twist the dial things happen the roland 404a exists to create entropy i wish you the best in learning, friend
apr17
@big-green-girl dam you truly can't fuck eyes and that should serve as a lesson for all of us
apr13
@evilswampmonster thank youuuuuuuuuuuuuuu :) :)
@punkreflex glad you liked it!! it's kinda hard to wrap my head around what i would say about it too. it has powerful aesthetic both visually and like, spiritually.
@bugleague i agree but i am still inflamed. les mis they made it good i swear. the guy steals a loaf of bread
apr12
@ztbd :) that album rules, señor coconut is very cool. yes steely dan is good against my will, deacon blues is the sign and symbol of my inevitable eventual divorced fatherhood
@big-green-girl these folk are all over the place. i wonder how people will describe us when we're old. "my grandpa lived his whole life without the neurolink even when everyone uploaded their brainimagery" something like that. also your new poem made me Laugh At Work
apr11
@punkreflex have u seen orlando the 1992 film? i recommend
—
@milknoir thank u very much !! :)
@milknoir i really liked your writing on bread. i love the concept of the constant generation of sourdough baked into those who make it. beautiful stuff
apr10
@bugleague cryptid image on old hard drive, poetry
@bugleague NO please do tell
@princess-jesus thank u very much!!
apr9
@alex enjoyed your writeup on chairs. i agree the chair's place in society deserves to be questioned, and the dynamics between seating and mindset are fun to think about. like, where does the footstool factor in. no footstool at job, job hates footstool
is there any place on the web where one could read your neopets info request writeup? i was thinking about that recently
apr7
@funkengine :-) bandit and beck are definitely kindred spirits. i think if they met they would know and understand each other
@princess-jesus sam hyde, who i guess is a neo-nazi?
--
@selenotropic your telescoping poem is so cool
@funkengine dawg i feel ya i spent most of yesterday afternoon in bed, i watched a seinfeld coats and jackets compilation where they edited together every time coats or jackets get mentioned on seinfeld. fog time
apr6
@big-green-girl holy shit. i can't believe people still even talk about winnie the pooh these days. it's fucked up. it's really fucked up. thank you for setting the record straight
@bugleague
--
@ztbd they were building a giant take out box i think. and selling food out of it maybe??
and haha. i love making art and oftentimes i am Proud Of My Art but i would prefer not to commodify my art to survive mr burning man
--
@ztbd one time this older guy made mothbaby, moldgold and me watch an extremely long video of him building something for burning man. it was excruciating. i don't understand burning man, especially the "burning a bunch of wood for no reason" part. seems bad. i respect your decision to abstain
@yesworms i like my dog and i think dogs are good. puppy is hard and they wake you up at night a lot at first. then they become good dog
apr5
@big-green-girl welcome to flounder and i'm dumping my entire bottle of apple cider vinegar in my water bottle right now
@ztbd i will def hit u up! i've been really enjoying it and would prefer it not to go away. i don't know if u've seen brawsh play, our dm is bren from brawsh and they do a really really good job i am always starstruck by their improv skills. also the term dungeon executive is really funny
@mothbaby/bugleague i have been thinking about barefoot is legal lately. i am beginning to believe in the power of bare feet. feet should touch ground. i'm not afraid to say it
apr4
@uncle-altoid very difficult juggling horse car and dog all at once. half my day is spent running around my dog barn i can't imagine having a horse too. last night i had a dream i was in the times of the earliest humans going around talking to people about their personal politics
@ztbd thank u for coming and reading at the show last night! and for doodling!
@princess-jesus
apr3
@bugleague @punkreflex y’all are too kind now i am crying. this means a lot, for real.
apr1
@bugleague i laughed really hard at all those poems and buying baby shoes is a powerful poem too
mar31
@princess-jesus i know what you mean deeply. as a kid i lived next to a little wooded lake - most nights you'd hear 1000 frogs. sometimes i'll camp near big frog noise and it feels very nostalgic.
kept an eye on the arch. something is going on with that thing as @funkengine knows well
--
@funkengine happy birthday to the good cat Bandit. cant wait to see him heelying down my block
mar30
@evilswampmonster thank u so much !! :)
@princess-jesus okay! i will do it and avoid the hole
@bugleague wow i am going to check out all tomorrows, i actually have all yesterdays and didn't realize it was part of a duology(?)! enjoying yr writeups !!
--
@ztbd unfortunately, some of us are never meant to pass VASLAR'S GATES and we must accept that, though heavy be our hearts :(
@princess-jesus please do! :)
@bugleague and mothbaby was that motherlode? fancy pants was the goat. bloons was god's honest truth. i do think roblox and minecraft have just about wiped out the miniclip genre
there is a website, glorioustrainwrecks.com, where people make dorky little games and put them online. it captures a little of that energy. i put some little games on there back when i was making little games. here is a link to one called HELLBALL: YOU ARE THE BALL
mar29
@princess-jesus princess jesus! that sucks. yes, taking your time is important. life is filled with so much time, so much. hope the future conversation goes well.
i think closure can be real. closure is a mindset
@bugleague thank u for the kind words my friend <3
--
@bugleague hi bugleague, nice to see you on flounder. i'm also glad you are asking one of the most important questions of our time, which i will endeavor to answer to the best of my abilities below
the short answer is yes, the guy from pbs spacetime is hot. part of that is of course the australian accent. another part is he is so smart, so smart in fact that i lose the plot halfway through every video. but i keep watching, because his voice explaining things is relaxing anyway. another part is that i think he is just hot. he feels like one of those guys that would be hotter in person than on video. thank you for reading
mar28
@mothbaby thank you!! and i am honored to be sitting in this boring as hell meeting with you. one of many
--
@moldgold first of all, pretty sure that was a poem and not a short story? second of all, if, like us true nightboy fans ("nightheads"), you had seen Down With The Duke: The Poet Lives In All Of Us (i'm sure you're at least aware of it? the 6 minute documentary that aired on those tv stations that play tiktok clips 24/7? centering on the life and times of one duke nightboy leading up to the moments of his untimely demise at the hands of a slice of (pepperoni) casey's pizza?), you would know that he becomed a ghost and submitted that as a ghost
@ztbd understandable! dogs are curious creatures. i used to have a dog who would similarly strive to create situations. speaking as one of the billion parents who believes their child is a genius, if you ever DO want to try a meeting, lmk. he's super chill! lol. and thank you for the kind words on: the minizine
--
@evilswampmonster hot dang that photographer really did capture the colorful beauty of mushrooms
@princess-jesus sorry to hear you are going through it, princess jesus. life is so weird with these weird tiers of love and friendship and such. complicated, and occasionally truly so insane it'll make your mind bend. yeesh! wishing you strength
@ztbd if your dog ever needs a dog friend to play with, let it be known that i too am in possession of: a dog. he is a sweet guy who likes having friends
mar27
@evilswampmonster fungi is crazy. a truly mysterious everyday occurence. hope yr migraine recedes quickly :)
@em i read 'the return', and ended up picking up the whole short story collection. i've read a few of them at this point. he has such a fun writing style, like someone you know just sharing some weird story they heard with you. a new fan of this bolano character !
mar24
@ztbd thank u so much !! :) :)
@ztbd it was good to see you too! i can relate to your quandry. i have a six year old brother who is addicted to minecraft. it seems to be 90% of what he thinks about/talks about. at first i found it endearing because i too was in love with minecraft earlier in my life. i went to the very first minecraft convention in las vegas like a real lil dork. but now it's beginning to terrify me because it really does consume the life of a kid. i have become more and more turned off by video games. wonder what josie would have thought :0
mar23
@ztbd yes it is me! good to see u on flounder dot online :)
mar21
@moldgold thank u!! :)
mar16
@em, no i have not! i will check it out :)
