• If you would expect your soldiers to meet a standard—make sure you exceed it.
• Put the troops first.
• Do not give orders directly to orders; delegate to NCOs and platoon leaders and allow them to manage their fiefdoms.
• Do not bypass local command chains (ex. foot soldiers talking to the Lieutenant) unless there is a very good reason (ex. cover-ups of sexual abuse.)
• If soldiers do not see you checking something they may assume you do not care about it.
