I also discussed my use of 3rd party front ends for many of the shittiest heaps on the web because of my underpowered hardware (in addition to the privacy-preserving effects this can sometimes have...tho given the state of the WWW, I reckon blocking js and cookies is likely not at all sufficient to not end up as an entry in some fucked up database somewhere on Mars or wherever the space lizards keep their computers).

I recently discovered AnonymousOverflow, a frontend for the SO shitpile of websites and I couldn't be more pleased.

There's some kinda Cloudflare fuckup going on right now and https://ao.ngn.tf/ is the only instance I've gotten to work for me

I also discovered a firefox[1] plugin called LibRedirect that bundles all these front-ends and url redirection into a single place

you guys are all way cooler than me, so you probably already knew about these things but I was just so stoked, I had to tell somebody or I was bound to break out into hives.

• [1] I use WaterFox but it's basically the same thing. My poor box is strainging under the famous FF memory footprint, and while WaterFox aleviates that to some degree (especially since getting the not-snap version of FF on l/ubuntu is a real pain in the dick. If you thought regular FireFox was a memory hog, just try and use the Snap version! my > 2GB of ram was no match and I had frequent crashes until I migrated. even zswap was useless to stop the girth). I would like to move to a different, much smaller browser but the workarounds to replace the handful of plugins I use has been making me put it off. afaik, Neither LibreWolf nor Pale moon work with Mozilla plugins. I've been using lynx to do anything that can be done in text-only mode but some stuff, unfortunately, is not possible without a "real" browser....this probably deserves an entire post and not just a footnote
