Embrace Extend Extinguish never went away, folks; Microsoft joined Linux Foundation over a decade ago. Mozilla signed a big-time deal with Google worth millions of dollars a mere 5 years ago. These are two pillars of the open-source "alternative" computing world (yea, linux in the backend world is the norm but that's not where most of the world does their computering) and they have been absorbed into the borg but nobody seems to have noticed (or doesn't understand the implications). This seems to be a trend, nominally tech literate people just ignoring the bullshit that goes on in the tech world; obviously the normies don't know or care about this shit. They push the button and the the goes brrrrrrrrrr. but there are folks who work in the tech industry who doesn't seem to grasp the situation here. Microsoft, the inventors of the 3Es of monopoly capitalism, have joined the group responsible for maintaining the only real viable alternative to Windows (mac nerds dont@me, nobody uses mac on purpose; they get tricked or snared into it and develop Stockholm Syndrome) and, as mentioned in a previous parenthetical, the foundations of the backend of the web. There should be sirens and burglar alarms going off but the thing just vanished in the mist. Can you imagine 90s linux nerds if this had happened at the peak of Darth Gates' reign of terror? They would have burned the entire industry to the ground. There would be a mob of sweaty pale dudes in pocket protectors and bowling shirts converging on Redmond, WA. But we have seen nothing.

What is the alternative to the Linux Kernal? BSD? are you fucking stupid? GNU Hurd??? Why don't we just chop off our own dicks while we're at it? libre-linux??? that's just linux except it doesn't work on 90% of available hardware.

The Mozilla thing is even more egregious, and has receieved even less coverage (it certainly didn't help that it occured during the early days of the Covid Plague). They have sold out, if they were ever actually sold in. Google runs the show , bitch, from the opening number to the closing sing-along; they decide the standards, they decide what works on the internet and what doesn't. they control all the tools. all your dumb little libraries, your tag managers, your fronts....Google has it's gross unshaven old-man dick inside it right now, like a mid-budget cuck porn ca 2007.

The only worthwhile alternatives to Firefox are forked from Mozilla tech; librewolf, Waterfox, Pale Moon...we are required to trust that the foundation wasn't built using cut-rate cement.

Things do not look so good for Free (as in Freedom) computing, children; I would smoke em if you got em. And if you are someone who has the means to help build the future alternatives to the current hegemony, I would get on that asap
