The "Animals" entry in the World Book is nearly fifty pages long, making it the single longest entry I've read so far. Yet it's almost entirely pictures, so it was also the quickest "read" so far, and I'm not entirely sure it counts as "reading." Anyway, it's a natural history museum in a can, if you're into that sort of thing.
"Animation" immediately follows "Animal." When I was a kid, my parents had the first volume of The New Book of Knowledge. This was an encyclopedia published by Groller. I don't know why we only had volume A, and I don't know why we had two copies - I assume it was sent to the house or picked up free as a promotional deal. (The Bible Story frequently got distributed the same way, which is why everyone I knew had the first volume but nobody had the rest.)
Tl;dr the only entry I liked in The New Book of Knowledge as a kid was the one on Animation. Not surprisingly, the 2024 World Book dedicates most of its entry to explaining digital animation - a thing that did not exist when my childhood copy of The New Book of Knowledge volume A was published.
Also of note: "Queen Anne" only covers the final Stuart queen, which I guess makes sense, but she's not even like my fifth favorite Queen named Anne. Also, we get a picture of her but not her fabulous taste in furniture.
