Today I learned that every day, about 0.8 percent of our red blood cells wear out and enter permanent retirement (so to speak). When more than this wear out, not enough new ones get produced to replace them, or we lose too much blood, anemia results.

Now I'm thinking about all the little geriatric blood cells floating around in my arteries. "He had two days left till retirement!"

I also learned that Julie Andrews is the same age as my grandmother, which might explain why she's not doing too much acting or singing anymore.
