My oven and microwave were both manufactured by Amana. I thought Amana was just another appliance company until I read the World Book entry. Turns out it's actually an appliance company based on a religious community? It wouldn't be the first (I'm familiar with Oneida silverware), but it was interesting to learn nonetheless. My oven and microwave are both at least 25 years old, so well done, Amana.

"Amazon" the river and "Amazon" the rainforest are both listed in the 2024 World Book, but not "Amazon" the company. I love to see it.

I am about halfway through the entries that begin with "American." So far, the vast majority are the names of various organizations (the American Bar Association, the American Civil Liberties Union, etc.), with the occasional dog breed thrown in (the American eskimo, the American foxhound). We'll see if my patience holds up through "American literature." I have too many degrees in the subject to expect to find the World Book overview all that interesting, but I'll give it a fair shot.
