On Experience and the "Hard Problem" of Consciousness

Experience Does Not Require a Dualist Explanation

This is a bit of an academic essay, but if there are any philosophy-minded people here I'd love to hear your thoughts.

The paper which I'm responding to is really optional reading, I try to reconstruct the philosophical context so that you don't have have already read anything in order to understand what I'm saying.

I find this super fun, and my writing is a little more dry this time than usual but hopefully that lets the focus be on the ideas!

If you're interested in the nature of consciousness I highly recommend: “The Mind is Flat” by Nick Chater. There is no philosophy in it, just biology and psychology.
