Valve Can Bring More Users to GNU/Linux, But It Won't Bring Freedom
Over at Tux Machines...

Once upon a time I had a Twitter account (with nearly a million tweets), but it was mostly just copies of things that I had originally published in JoinDiaspora until it collapsed. So nowadays I can spend more time on the sister site (GNU/Linux news) and this site (mostly analysis). In social control media, one gets subjected to abuse, even hateful speech*. In one's own site the sort of abuse one gets subjected to is different; for instance, one can get abused in IRC and (in the past) abusive blog comments. Mitigation is somewhat easier.

As per FORTUNE, 76% of Twitter is alleged to be bots now:

People can say anything about pretty much anyone (alleging the spouse kidnapped and drugged his spouse, others saying the same thing). And yet, some people insist on still using social control media, not recognising it for what it truly is. █
