Running Our Own Network and Building Our Own Systems

So we can sit back, relax, and be productive

Yesterday we got to speak to the developer/maintainer of the IRC daemon (ircd) we've used since 2021 to run our own communications network. He came to our network to express interest and we, in exchange, expressed gratitude for his work. We had also tried to contribute back some changes/enhancements.

Our network remains loved by Free software people (many wishes - good wishes - sent to me there yesterday) and loathed by Microsofters, who have long tried to derail it - to the point of sending us close to 60 kilograms of legal papers over some IRC dispute. The Microsoft pedophile had the audacity to come to our IRC channels and demand that we ban some people; that was before he got arrested for raping children.

We take pride in our IRC community and we want to encourage other projects/sites to do the same; IRCNow would be a good start (they can help, they're super-friendly). We'll also write a lot about SSGs in years to come. It's time to de-bloat the Web. █
