TODAY we have some truly terrible weather (a gusty storm [1, 2]; some football matches got canceled, at least the Merseyside derby), so I'm staying indoors and doing some much-needed (and probably belated) housekeeping. In the process I've just noticed that we forgot to copy all the multimedia files of TechBytes when we converted everything to static and migrated things to the new site, running Perl at the back end (no PHP anymore!). Well, I have just re-added the missing audio files from the old account and tested that they work. As the saying goes, it's better done late than never. I then decided to check how many video and audio files we have here. That led me to checking the same thing regarding Web pages and image files. Here are some raw numbers.

↺ HTTPS: 1
↺ HTTPS: 2
↺ HTTPS: the Merseyside derby
HTTPS: TechBytes
no PHP anymore

Number of Web pages (HTML): 90,117

Number of PDF files: 1,810

Number of TXT files: 9048

Number of JPEG files: 41,976

Number of PNG files: 26172

Number of GIF files: 3243

Number of WebM videos: 1,897

Number of AVI videos: 405

Number of Ogg videos/audio files: 665

Number of MP4 videos/audio files: 95

Number of MP3 videos/audio files: 117

Total publicly-accessible files and directories: 224,411

If one also counts system files, Gemini files and basically the entire file system (also the sister site), then our server has a grand total of 1,832,412 files and directories. That's about 20 years of work. █
