The Open Source Initiative (OSI) is Dead. Cause of Death: Microsoft Bribes.

Joan Meyer correctly linked Gideon Cody raid on Marion County Record to Kristallnacht

I always cautioned Simon Phipps - the OSI's guardian at the time - that this would happen, I even told him that explicitly and in public. He didn't want to listen (after Microsoft had paid). He coordinated with the FSFE (another recipient of several Microsoft bribes) before they tried to cancel Dr. Stallman and they would also conspire against Professor Moglen. Noticing a pattern*?

As noted here the other day, OSI had clearly become nothing but a megaphone of Microsoft and/or GAFAM. Almost nothing else comes from OSI's blog. Yes, OSI actively attacks Open Source by promoting the talking points of those seeking to eliminate (or privatise) it.

At the Linux Foundation, only about 2% of the money goes to Linux. At OSI, only about 3% or 4% of the money comes from members. The boss is Microsoft, not those members.

We wish to emphasise again Bruce Schneier's latest:

That's very negative publicity for OSI and a lot more should be expected.

a lot more should be expected

OSI, like the Linux Foundation, is now in the business of openwashing, i.e. wrongly describing proprietary things as "open", then promoting them. At the core, the Linux Foundation and OSI adopted lies as a business model. █
