Summary: It’s a mistake to rely only on the Web

IN the first 17 days of this month we published 200 blog posts (this is number 200), we served 362,000 pages in Gemini, and we’re serving an average of 5.5 requests per second over the World Wide Web. Later today we expect to have our 48,000th page in Gemini. Some time this weekend we’ll have passed 37,500 blog posts too.

As Ryan has just explained, Web standards are being abandoned. The Web isn’t dead, it’s still by far the most used platform for Web-like pages (what’s left of them that’s not “webapps”). But it’s a mistake to put all the eggs in that basket. █
