Summary: This week’s reports of Microsoft layoffs in Australia (about 10% of the staff let go in just 6 months, not counting many who retire/resign amid hiring freeze, never to be replaced, and not counting temps and contractors either [1, 2]) have led to criticism [1, 2] of the greedy CEO who — internally at least — is broadly perceived to be an outsourcer of sorts; months ago the Microsoft-sponsored media ran a bizarre campaign that portrayed him as a modest if not reasonably poor man (see video below) while framing Google’s CEO as a greedy ogre (“fake news” is Big Business)
