- This release introduces the video metadata support added by Abhinav Badola for GSoC 2012, and lots of makernote updates, especially added lenses. This is also the first release that includes the (still experimental) CMake build files.
- After dabbling with a KDE Plasma Active Tablet, Aaron Siego has announced today Make Play Live’s first product as the Improv. The Improv is an open-source ARM development board that runs Mer OS and is compatible with Wayland.
- So does that mean Kdenlive is dead as many say? Yes, it would have been dead if it was a proprietary software like Microsoft Windows. Luckily it’s free software – governed by GNU GPL v2 – so anyone can take over the development.
- In the past, major releases usually included all three elements of the complete software family produced by KDE. This release does not include Plasma Workspaces, which was frozen for new features in 4.11.x. In addition, the Development Platform has seen only minor changes for a number of releases in anticipation of KDE Frameworks 5. So this release is mainly about improving and polishing KDE Applications.
- The GNOME Project has announced recently that the first development version towards GNOME Terminal 3.12 is available for download and testing. The final release will be part of the upcoming GNOME 3.12 desktop environment.
- The GNOME Boxes developers released the second development version towards GNOME Boxes 3.12 software for managing virtual machines under the GNOME desktop environment.
- The wonderful and great Matthias Clasen had the pleasure of announcing a few days ago that a new development release of the upcoming GNOME 3.12 desktop environment is ready for download and testing.
- The GNOME developers are hard at work, releasing packages for the upcoming GNOME 3.12 desktop environment. The release of Nautilus 3.11.2 is now here and brings several fixes and improvements.
- The GNOME Logs software saw its second development release a few days ago. The 3.11.2 version brings assorted bugfixes, improvements, and updated/new translations.
