Old Computer Challenge day 2
Day two was almost the same as day one. I did sign up for the occ forum over at and made an introduction post.
gaming
I wanted to try some more gaming. Went to download an old roblox client called novetus and it failed to download a few times. Tried it again when I walked away from my laptop for a bit and it worked.
The experience was not the best ever at a not even 30fps. I played for a bit then stopped because it got boring and it was not smooth.
After that I went to try and get quake2 working on puppy linux. I ended up getting it to work but there was no sound. Did a bit of looking and turns out the configuration was set to off. Go figures why my sound did not work. Now it works fine. Quake2 was great.
quake
I got quake1 working on windows 7 and quake2 working on puppy linux. I wanted to try and get quake2 working on windows 7 because its giving me a black screen. Bought the gog quake 2 and tried it. Same issue as before. Then I deleted the opengl dll and it worked in software mode. Don't understand why opengl 1.4 mode does not work when it should. It works on linux just fine. I guess this is one pro of linux.
When I was using my netbook I thought to myself I am doing all the same things as my main desktop pc. Almost alll the same things. Just different programs to get the same thing done. So then if the software I run on my desktop was made to run on slower hardware like the netbook would that mean I could make the netbook my daily laptop. I think so.
