Shadow Tips
-----------

Abstract:

This is a collection of tips posted by our users. Rather than read them
online, why not read them from within Shadow Plan itself?

Background:

We run a lot of forums and mailing lists so people (like you!) can share
ideas with each other, ask questions, make feature requests, or just hang
about.

"Shadow Tips" is just such a forum (mailing list) that we run to let
people submit really good ideas and "recipes" to, so the ideas can be kept
forever, searched, and shared. People all use Shadow Plan differently, but
some ideas are just so good that everyone can benefit from reading them, or
even incorporating them into their usage.

If you have a good idea, please feel welcome to share it in the discussion
forums. For a list of all our forums, see here:

Installation
------------

You can install one or both files, though most people will just want to
install only "ShadP-Shadowtips.PDB".

Just double click on the .pdb file, and Palm Desktop will offer to install
it for you during the next hotsync. Thats it! Once on your handheld, you
may choose to move it to expansion media, as it is a large file. See
the Handheld Reference Guide documentation on the "file selection screen"
for details of moving files between RAM and expansion media.

Once the PDB (Palm database) file has been installed onto your handheld,
you can simply open the list in Shadow Plan, as you would any other list.
This lets you browse the tips, search and filter them, or even make comments
of your own in it for your own use.

If you would like to sync it with Shadow Desktop, simply pull down the
List Preferences panel from the List menu, and check the "Synchronize"
option. It will then show up in Shadow Desktop after your next sync, if
you're a registered user of Shadow Desktop.

The second file, "ShadP-ShadowTips.xml", is a Shadow Desktop XML file we've
ready made for you. You can do a file find for the directory
"ShadowPlan160" and copy this XML file into it. This will let you view
or print the tips file from within Shadow Desktop, without having to sync it
down from the handheld .pdb file. This is of course purely optional.

Notes
-----

Size:

This is a large file, mostly comprised of long "notes" that contain the
contents of the original emails from the forum. On older units, it can be
a little sluggish to open or close due to this.

Age:

Remember that Shadow Plan is ever evolving, with new releases every month
or two. Some postings in Shadow-tips may be in the context of an older
version of the application. (ie: At least one tip refers to printing.
The Shadow Desktop available at the time had very limited printing
options, while the current Shadow Desktop is very flexible. The tips
are still good and worth reading, but you should be aware of the age
of some of them.)

Credits
-------

It would be a shame to mention that almost all of these tips are postings
made by you, the user. We've made a few, but most of these are real world
honest to goodness great ideas from all of you.

My thanks to all of you for posting, and to Joseph who created this
Shadow Tips summary for the handheld.

Enjoy!
