About
-----

Icons are small pieces of artwork you can attach to Shadow Plan items to
make them more meaningful very quickly, or perhaps just to make them more
attractive. (In the future you will be able to filter on Icon, among other
useful improvements.)

We do not automatically install the icons so that we can let you choose
from among several icon graphic sets, use an existing set on your device,
and to ensure we don't over-write any custom graphic sets you may have
designed.

Installation
------------

Included with the Shadow Plan distribution are two icon sets -- one for
low resolution (160x160) devices, and another for high resolution (320x320,
320x480, 480x320 etc) devices. Install the correct one only!

Simply double click on the appropriate icon .prc file and your Palm Desktop
should offer to install it for you; ensure you pick the correct device!
Afterwards, perform a hotsync and your icons will be available for use.

If double clicking doesn't work, then you can use the Palm Install Tool,
Palm QuickInstall, a card reader, or any other method of installing handheld
applications you're used to; just install the Icons .prc file of your choice
into the device's RAM.

Using Other Icon Sets (DateBk5, Agendus, etc)
---------------------

Shadow Plan can make use of standard icon files, such as those created by
Icon Manager (IconMgr). Popular applications such as Iambic's Agendus and
Pimlico's DateBk5 come with icon sets, and many sets are available freely
and as shareware on the Internet.

To make life easy, Shadow Plan will adopt some 3rd party icon sets
automatically if Shadow's own set isn't found. This way you can use one
set for all of your applications, or create your own just for Shadow Plan.

For this to work, of course, you'll need to know the order in which Shadow
Plan seek's out the artwork.

Firstly, Shadow Plan looks for an icons file named "Icons-Shadow" in RAM.

Secondly, if no icons are found yet, an icon database of creator Coog and type
Rsrc will be sought out. This lets you create an icon database with a different
name, but still being Shadow Plan specific.

Thirdly, if no icons are found yet, an icon database of creator Actn and type
Rsrc will be sought out. This lets you use an existing Icon Manager default
icon set, or an Agendus or DateBk5 icon set. If you're using icons, then
chances are Shadow Plan will have found your default set right away using
this rule.

If still no icons are found, then Shadow Plan disables icon mode -- no icons
will be visible (even if assigned), and you will not be able to assign or clear
an icon from an item. (The little golf flag icon in the full screen Details
window will be hidden.)

If icon mode is disabled, but you have icons on your device, then you may
wish to fire up Icon Manager (or your favourite icon editor) and rename a
file to Icons-Shadow. (Case is relevent!) You could also use a file browser
such as Filez (freeware) or the one built into your launcher (ZLauncher for
instance) or the like to alter the Creator and Type of a file to the
above, to ensure it gets found.
