False Flag Ops Coming...
Locrian noticed the story linked below. A probably fake hyperliberal Twitter account inciting 130,000 unsuspecting followers, inviting mockery from conservatives for saying vile and racist things like
no Black person will be able to succeed in a merit-based system
In my personal experience, a lot of hair-triggered people are ready to become willing subjects of mockery.
False flag operations are a key part of any propaganda machine worth its salt. I assume there are several major campaigns in progress at any given time. Sadly, propaganda is coming from all sides.
The recent supreme court case, based around a completely made-up scenario, is likely one - inciting outrage, and hate-speech from both sides, as expected.
How does one fight such things? It is not an easy question, and I certainly don't have answers. Just a few thoughts.
- Temper yourself when reacting to outrageous injustices.
- Watch very carefully for inciting or performative behavior.
- Verify before propagating false information.
- Anyone who grooms a following of hundreds of thousands is probably a psychopath.
- Avoid echo-chambers that escalate situations, even if it seems is justified.
- Avoid the use of jargon that makes sense to your group but not others.
- Avoid social media tantrums. You may get likes, but the other side may gain ammo.
- Ignore mass-media news. By the time news gets to you, it's been seriously edited.
- Always try to frame communications inclusively. Hard to mock a group that includes you.
As the old poker saying goes, if you can't tell who the patsy is, you are.
