'But I don't porn' one might say. 'Why should I care?'
Because data is never as secure as it should be for one, and for another. You think the people passing these new rules are going to be anything other than scream murder and brimstone if they have their own... anything made public?
first porn, then social media...
And eventually everything else.
Sounds like paranoid screaming doesn't it? Well. The supreme court has upheld the 'need' for verification on porn websites. We have clueless old people regulating these things and those same people have seen both how the internet can support out-groups by way of finding material and psychological support. This is them wanting to turn it into a surveilence system.
Please, for the love of God, tell me I'm being paranoid. that I'm delusional and need medication for wholly unrealistic views of the
world. It'll take time to escalate, but escalate it will. We need to prepare.

I sadly am not overreacting in the above post given there have been efforts made and upheld to have age verification handled by middle-men data brokers for social media and other such content now.
