Trek BBS - Est 1999

This thing is a community that has been active for Twenty Six years. Granted Facebook is Twenty, but unlike Facebook this community isn't a thinly veiled machine to siphon money from people and generate outrage. OK. it's a group of trekkies in a virtual room together. Outrage and Arguments are inevetable. As a fandom we're kinda known for being pedantic, prone to lashing out, hyper protective of our pet theories, and endlessly screaming about cannon. This was true even in the analogue times before the internet, in the times when it was largely Usenet threads screaming over rumors of Spock's death in wrath of khan, and on and on...

Yet here this place stands, where so many have fallen. It is a beautiful thing to see a group manage to survive this long, andn ot as some hollowed out ghost town, but a thriving active community where I'm the lurker that occasionally posts rather than the guy that stumbled into the internet equivilant of a bust town trying to scare up signs of life.
