Just a reminder that internet radio still exists

One of my friends was complaining about how Spotify was getting worse, and that turned into a fun discussion about internet radio stations.

There are thousands of internet radio stations out there, so you can enjoy a wide variety of music without having to pay a monthly fee for a subscription. I often have an internet radio station playing in the background while I am programming.

If you are a command-line user, mpv can play internet radio streams. I just discovered that today. My go-to music player is XMPlay, which I covered in a previous gemlog entry, but most media players should be capable of playing internet radio streams.

This is just another example of how simpler is usually better. No need for bloated music streaming apps when you can use any capable media player instead!
