Computer Collection: Europa
About
Europa is a 10th generation Intel NUC that was gifted to me by a friend when they moved and didn't need it anymore. It came to me with its SSD and RAM fitted, with the former wiped for security reasons.
Its U-series Core i7 allows it to run my Mastodon server without consuming much power at all. It idles at just 7 watts, only jumping up when ffmpeg has to transcode some video.

Trivia
- Europa is named after the moon of the same name, orbiting Jupiter.
- When I first plugged Europa into a socket after it being sat in a box for ages, its power supply produced such a large arc that it charred the live and neutral pins of the UK to IEC C5 cable I was using, meaning I had to throw said cable out. Europa was undamaged and this has never occurred again, but I don't want to chance it.
- It is the smallest computer I have ever owned.
