Computer Collection: Apophis

This is a brand-new-in-box Wyse 5020 thin client bought from eBay for £35. Its ultra low power consumption of about 10W while running intrigued me, as Phobos is a massive power hog, consuming at minimum 40W and when playing YouTube (basically all the time) around 75-80W. Add the monitors on and my setup would be consuming 120W+.

Its performance is, compared to Phobos, horrendous in every single way. However, I'm willing to accept this severe downgrade in exchange for less power usage.

Trivia

• Apophis is named after 99942-Apophis, the near-Earth asteroid that's going to be observed by OSIRIS-APEX (formerly OSIRIS-REx) in April of 2029.
• Its disk on module position makes it very difficult to replace it for anything that is not the exact model of DOM.
• There is a second SATA port onboard alongside 5 volts and ground from the connector CN1700. A 2.5" SATA SSD or hard drive could be added.
