Rules of Maze of MURDERS
You probably won't need to read these rules. The game is designed so that players can easily jump in head-first and figure it out as they go.
You can come back to the rules if you really want to understand how some detail or other works.
New game creation
- A new game is created every 7 days
- 1 entrance is randomly placed, where all players start
- 5 food rations (turnips) are randomly scattered around the maze
- 10 treasures are randomly scattered around the maze
Initial inventory
Each player starts with
- 3 turnips
- 2 wall kits
- a map
- a compass
- a knife
Survival
- Players must eat 1 turnip per day--death occurs after 24 hours of last meal
- Player characters drift off to sleep after 5 minutes of inactivity
- Sleeping players can be effortlessly murdered if the murderer is posession of a knife
- Dead bodies remain in the maze
- Dead or sleeping players can be robbed
Wall-kits
- Players can construct a wall kit any time there is an open space in front of them
- When a wall-kit is built, the logo of the Frobozz Magic Wall-Kit Company is visible from the side which it was constructed, distinguishing it from a normal wall
- Players cannot pass through constructed wall-kits
- A search of (or an attempt to write onto) a constructed wall-kit will identify it on the searcher's side by showing a visible logo to that side
- When a wall-kit is known by a visible logo, it can be torn down
- Once a wall-kit has been torn down, the kit is destroyed and cannot be used again
Map and compass
- A player's map shows them what they've explored so far, as well as the location of any treasures, bodies, turnips, and fake walls they've discovered
- If a player loots another's map, the knowledge of that map is added to their own (a player never has more than one map)
- If a player's map is stolen, it's gone; a new one won't be drawn (unless the player gets another map by looting someone else's)
- If a player's compass is stolen they will not be informed what direction they're facing
Writing onto walls
- A knife is required to scratch into a wall
- Any text can be scratched into any normal wall; players cannot scratch onto constructed wall-kits
- An attempt to scratch into a constructed wall-kit identifies itself that it is fake by revealing the logo of the manufacturer
Other rules
- Any players that yells something will be heard by anyone else simultaneously online
- Once a player commits a murder, their eyes will glow red
- Any player may kill a conscious murderer; however, this is considered an execution, not a murder, and will not cause the executioner's eyes to glow red nor be added to the executioner's score
- If the murderer is asleep, on the other hand, killing them is a cold-blooded act and does count as a murder
Scoring
A player's score will be calculated once the maze is exited from where they started, based on their inventory
- 100 points for each treasure
- 50 points for each murder
- 100 points for being of possession of a complete map or 5 points for having an incomplete map
- 5 points for each knife
- 5 points for each compass
- 5 points for each food ration
- 30 points for each wall-kit
Players won't know how well they played against against others until the game ends.
