unstated patience

mouth is where we live, oral apartment

I cracked a window in my sleep on saturday

my lips look paler in the morning

it takes time for them to get ripe

I wake up with my eyes loose and crooked

wet glue on a magazine

When you crack a window and you don’t know how to repair it and there are no builders available, all you can do is sit next to it in your rattiest hoodie and hope that nothing gets in.

When you can’t find your lipstick or lip stain or lip gloss in your purse, you can pick at your lips for a while maybe or just sit in the car. You can watch the bugs hit the windshield.

Everything looks like a movie if it doesn’t matter so much to you. Sometimes you have to make sure the cameras aren’t rolling. You have to make sure the cameras aren’t rolling sometimes.

I have to come out of age and so do you

i have a way of falling back to solitude

and you have a way of poking through the surface of the ground

like a horse treading water

effortfully we need to strive towards that dirt road by the volleyball court. We didnt know each other but we both bit the bitter grass of that winter

passed it back and forth over tits and tongues

if i would have been brave I would have ground you down to your essence on a garlic plate, and even sooner I would have let you do the same to me

if I could have changed anything I would have been sharp like red onion. I would have bit your sinuses clean in half

but still now your wet coarse fruit and my barren field. we share parallel moles under that blue-white sky

i can see you from here
