Pretty much every site that isn't a personal blog refuses to have even basic functionality without JS [JavaScript].
Yupp. I'm kind of used to this because I have resorted to use TOR browser almost exclusively since many years. It's an interesting kind of sports to see, how many of the domains I have to allow, of those which are listed in the NoScript box.
So I thought, why not start a list of websites, which actually do work without JavaScript enabled?
- midnight.pub --- a nice no frills site to occasionally hang out
- sourcehut.org and related sites like git.sr.ht --- imho this is the killer feature: "works without JavaScript" :-)
- solar.lowtechmagazine.com --- a treasure trove of long forgotten technology
- www.notechmagazine.com --- their sister site
- dict.tu-chemnitz.de --- a dictionary DE -- EN, ES, PT
- www.wikipedia.org --- works to some extent
My banks webpage did work without JavaScript and (more importantly) over TOR, but they switched systems a while back, and very unfortunately, this feature disappeared. Sniff. And yes, I informed them, that I notice a severe lack of nerd appeal on the current website.
Have fun!
