How to replace the Steam Controller's thumbstick

You may find the Steam Controller's stick kind of icky to use after a while.

There is a solution! And it's not too difficult or expensive!

Required materials

The replacement sticks for the 8BitDo SN30 Pro are known to fit properly.

Steps

1. Disassemble the Steam Controller according to iFixit's steps, up to and including step 5.

2. Pull the old thumbstick cap off of the stick.

3. Put the replacement thumbstick cap on.

4. Reassemble the Steam Controller, going backwards from iFixit's steps.

The new stick may have some fit issues at first, like the stick getting stuck when you push it. Click it in and spin it around to loosen it up. This goes away over time.
