Self-hosted tinylogs --

Calling anyone that still hosts their own tinylog on their capsule. When I first started Gemini, tinylogs were fairly common but they seem to have gone to the wayside with BBS and Station making them so easy to create on these platforms (which is great, no fault there), but as I'm updating my tinylog aggregator, my list is shrinking.

I have set up a server tinylog, which aggregates users' logs using GTL..

I still update my tinylog, although very infrequent. But I would like to see more tinylog entries. But it would be cool to have an actual list of active tinylogs somewhere central. Mine is found here: gemini://redterminal.org/tinylog.gmi

@roughnecks - I do the same, and was going through my list today to cleanse and update.

@bacardi55 was maintaining a repository but I'm not sure how current it is. sometimes I just search kennedy for tinylogs.

Just changed the filename to gemini://bosque-protector/tinylog.gmi so it's easier to find on search engines

I haven't heard of tinylogs till now. What/where/why would I make use of them, by chance?

@unquietwiki Think of it as a self-hosted twitter timeline. It's a single file that you host where you add entries that are too small for a full gemlog.

There's an unofficial, but widely adopted RFC for it over on

if you self-host some folks have created a way to add to it from your client instead of logging in. I've done this and so has @smallpatatas

In fact, BBS here and Station both run off the idea of tinylogs / microblogs

Ah, neat. I found the RFC in the Bacardi capsule; looks like they haven't updated their TinyLog in almost two years...

So I'd stand-up my own Gemini instance and then do this Tinylog to that? Or could I do one againt my profile here? Or something?

@unquietwiki Anywhere you want, really. It's basically a gemtext file with extra formatting

@unquietwiki BBS does it for you under /u/, but if you wanted to sign up for a free hosting service you can make one there or host your own capsule.

I don't have a tinylog, but I have a twtxt file that I serve via my capsule.

@Bosque : I'm not sure how to contact you elsewhere, so I'll mention it here: you tinylog has the months and minutes mixed: your 'script' that you mention there uses %M for both, resulting in hilarious dates :). on my phone, so I can't check really, but I suspect months are %m.

Gracias. @jmcs Well seen. Yes, indeed %m is for months. I coded from memory and that's due to bugs.
