Just finished setting `slrn` up. It really feels like going back in time, but I ain't Marty McFly.

so what did you do?

setup an nntp server?

🐦 roughnecks [OP] · Nov 22 at 11:34:

No, it's just a client, but I also found this: https://github.com/erco77/newsd and will probably give it a go, whenever I can. It's not a full NNTP server, so it should better fit my needs.

by using a client you still need an nntp server account right?

which server do you recommend?

also i can't find where to browse nntp via web without an account.

Most of NNTP server require an account, at least to post. I would recommend "eternal-september.org" - they're one of the oldest server and still in activity.

I remember some site which used to post USENET group messages in a forum-style view, but it's been a while and don't remember shit anymore. Not sure if you're interested but google groups should do the same thing, still.

If you're looking for a reader with a GUI give Pan a try

Thanks, but no. I used Pan a lot in the past, while now I was looking for something terminal-based for my VPS.
