Welcome to the cloud free internet. This site runs on a computer we own, in fact a computer someone else used to own, we bought second hand. We want to celebrate a world of distributed computing that doesn't profit a small handful of cloud computing companies.

Running hardware is fun, heck pulling network cables through walls can be fun, watching blinky lights that represent real people interacting with this content gives us a warm feeling.

linux free

To be fair we have nothing against linux, it's done a lot of good, as has its community but nevertheless a healthy eco system is one in which there are viable alternatives. For a number of reasons we use freebsd and openbsd. Supporting alternatives helps keep the internet free and open, not to mention functioning.

container free

Kind of. Instead of joining the hype wagon and runnin. our services in a kubernetes cluster or some other container orchestration system they run in jails, a technology that has been battle tested since the year 2000!

community tech

We believe in solutions that are right sized to the community they serve. They don't rely on centralization. Leaving ownership and control in the hands of the members of the community. We avoid all "big tech" products and services, including the latest capital intensive llm tools that capture the creativity and effort of the many and concentrate wealth in the hands of the few.
