photo log

Refreshed my sole remaining big web site, to be more small web.

I've had a very minimalist photolog for years. When I moved to the small web, I reproduced a version of it as my 'plog'

plog

I added logic to my small website generator to dynamically produce this page from exif metadata. This takes advantage of the inline image loading of a view small web browsers. So the index contains all the image text in one file and you click to load an image at a time. I wrote a little about this at the time.

Though my original http photo log is still used by people oblivious of the small web, and for some reason I didn't remove it. Sometimes I like sharing images with people from photography groups that aren't going to go through the trouble of getting a special browser for the purpose. Though I don't feel the same way about the rest of the content I put into the small web, I am happy for it to only exist here. Parts of my photography workflow also changed recently, which left my original site out of date, not getting any of the new images I intended to share.

I have now rectified this, bringing my http site in perfect sync with my plog. Bit of an anticlimax to anyone reading this post, as they are most likely to use the small web version but hey, its a thing. And one possible benefit is the http RSS feed may work better with existing tools. The viewing experience of a single image with surrounding text is a touch more focused but wouldn't work with small web protocols.
